Supernatural Creator Teases “Hell”ish New Season

BEWARE! POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR SEASON 4!

“The season opens with some bombshells!” teases Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who already jolted viewers when he sent Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) to Hell in May’s season finale. Season 4 (premiering September 18 at 9 pm/ET, The CW) opens four months later, when Dean wakes up with no memory of his torment. “What happened to Dean in Hell and to [younger brother] Sam [Jared Padalecki] when he had to be a hunter by himself will slowly come to light,” Kripke says. “It gives us a nice opportunity for an internal struggle for Dean and for the brothers to surprise each other.” Katie Cassidy (Ruby) and Lauren Cohan (Bela) are both gone, but Jim Beaver and Steven Williams are back as geezer demon fighters Bobby and Rufus. Get set for a revealing flashback to the Winchester parents’ teen years, an homage to 1930s monster flicks and a bloody Halloween show.

‘Supernatural’ Boys Dish on New Season, Possible Spinoff

OK, count me in as Comic-Con’s latest convert, because not only do the panels and the swag rule (I love you, Dexter bobble head), but I also got a little one-on-one time with the swooniest brothers the small screen has ever seen (sorry, Bo and Luke Duke): Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles of Supernatural.

Boss Eric Kripke was also on hand to tackle my Q’s, and the three of them spilled lots of scoop, including where the new season is heading, talk of a Ghostfacers spinoff and a 7-foot teddy bear, so click in for some Super scoop!

Where Season Four Begins: We’re joining up with the Winchester boys four months after we saw Dean hanging from chains in that blistering-hot place run by that dude Beelzebub (aka hell). Too bad for Dean, though, as hell seems to run in dog years. So what’s on deck for these poor, miserable souls? Nothing good…

Welcome to Rock Bottom: Over the first half of the season, we will learn what Sam did while he was by himself and what Dean endured in hell. “Sam’s turning a little reckless now that his brother is dead,” Jared revealed. And during his four months alone, Sam has cut off contact with everyone and has become wildly suicidal in his hunting attempts.

Jensen Ackles Takes on New Dimensions in My Bloody Valentine 3D

While his character of Dean Winchester on the hit Warner Bros/CW Network series Supernatural went to hell in the 3rd season finale No Rest for the Wicked, actor Jensen Ackles went off to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area to take on the lead role of Tom Hanninger in the Lionsgate Films remake of My Bloody Valentine. The movie, which also stars Jamie King and Kerr Smith, is an updated version of the 1980’s cult classic horror movie about a killer stalking a small coal mining town and was filmed in the latest high tech version of the 3D technology that’s been hitting the movie screens in such projects as the most recent remake of Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Eclipse Magazine caught up with Jensen Ackles at his recent appearance at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con where he was promoting the upcoming 4th season of the hit series Supernatural to talk to him a bit about his work in My Bloody Valentine 3D.

Jensen up for an Emmy?

Kripke spoke recently to TV Guide with some spoiler information about what’s coming up in the next season. The site also reports that Jensen Ackles is on the nominations ballot for the 2008 Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Dramatic Series.

Ackles, 30, is currently in Pittsburgh filming horror flick My Bloody Valentine: 3D, in which he plays Tom Warden, a mentally unstable young man who returns to his home town ten years after a series of 22 brutal murders were committed and finds himself the lead suspect. The movie comes out on January 23, 2009.

Jared Padalecki Updates Us on Supernatural Season 4

While on the set of Platinum Dunes’ upcoming remake of Friday the 13th, we got a chance to talk to one of Jason’s latest victims, Jared Padalecki. And of course the conversation soon turned to the fourth season of Supernatural. Season three ended with Dean (Jensen Ackles) going to Hell. So, where does that leave Sam? Jared was quite eager to answer our questions:

I know we’re here on the set of Friday the 13th. But I have to ask some Supernatural questions. When do you guys go back to shooting again?

Jared Padalecki: As of right now, we are supposed to start in the first week of July. Of course the strike is a big issue. But they want to have us paired with Smallville. And Smallville is going to start shooting really early. So they want us to start shooting early, so they can air all of the episodes together.

Have you seen any scripts from the first couple of episodes?

Jared Padalecki: No, uh-uh. I haven’t seen anything. Hat’s off to Eric (Kripe). The only person I have talked with is Jensen. He and I keep in touch. But we haven’t seen any scripts or read any of the scripts. We haven’t even heard any of the ideas that they have.

You know that all of the fans are freaking out because they thought Jensen was off the show? But clearly not.

Jared Padalecki: I’m hoping clearly not. I think his plan is to be in Vancouver when I am in Vancouver. I pray to God that he comes back. Because that means every day, all day, there would be no one there to bear the burden except me. But, no, I’m sure that Jensen will be a huge part of the series. Just as he has always been. He’s just in Hell this time out.
